Pula, Croatia ; September 2026 — Hong Kong installation artist Chi yung WONG has been invited by the internationally renowned Visualia Lighting Festival; one of Croatia’s leading platforms for contemporary light‑based art; to present The Tower of Light- Croatia Edition in the coastal city of Pula. The installation will be showcased on 17-19 September 2026 and is sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels (HKETO Brussels) to promote cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Croatia.

This prestigious invitation marks a significant milestone for Hong Kong’s creative community; following Wong’s recent presentations at major international festivals in Belgium and Slovenia over the past two years. His selection by Visualia Lighting Festival further underscores the rising global recognition of Hong Kong’s artistic innovation; demonstrating how local creative talent continues to gain visibility, respect, and momentum on the international stage.

The Tower of Light- Croatia Edition 2026 is a site‑responsive sculptural work that transforms according to its environment. In daylight, the structure stands as a conceptual light tower; a quiet symbol observing time, landscape, and human passage. As night falls, it transitions into a luminous installation. Through a choreography of light and darkness, it breathes with a slow, fluid rhythm reminiscent of water; inviting viewers to reflect on the delicate interplay between human presence, urban space, and the natural world.

Spanning 5m by 4.7m, the installation exemplifies how artistic sculpture can be integrated into public space while maintaining zero light pollution. Through Wong’s art‑tech design, inward‑facing LEDs and seamless lighting integration create an engaging, poetic field of animated projections; forming a meditative environment where light behaves like a living, fluid substance. The work aims to invite contemplation on the shifting relationship between humanity, technology, and nature; revealing “the shimmering, ever‑changing kinship between light and water.”

For the Croatia Edition, Wong draws inspiration from the Adriatic Sea; its currents, stillness, and reflective surface; developing enhanced artistic projections specifically for this presentation. The installation amplifies these local characteristics; creating a visual narrative deeply rooted in the maritime and cultural context of the region.

The opening ceremony will take place on 17 September 2026 at 8 PM; followed by the festival’s city‑wide programme of contemporary light‑based art.
