Artist Bio
Chiyung Wong is a cross-disciplinary artist and curator whose work encompasses experiential installations, light art, creative education, and the intersection of arts and sciences. With over 20 years of international experience in creative practice and professional work, Chiyung presents a range of interdisciplinary collaborations, including installations, research, publications, workshops, and seminars. These initiatives provide vital platforms for exchange between artists, scientists, technologists, researchers, journalists, and students.
Education and Academic Honors
Chiyung’s unique perspective is built on a rigorous global academic foundation:

Yale University (2020): Selected as an Arts Fellow for his dedication to the field of arts and mental health.

International Collaboration and Advocacy
Chiyung frequently travels between Asia and Europe, spearheading projects that bridge cultural and disciplinary divides. He has been invited by various institutes to host masterclasses on art and mental health awareness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and creative education.

Professional Expertise in Light and Design
Beyond his curatorial and artistic practice, Chiyung has maintained a high-profile career in commercial and architectural lighting. He served as the Lighting Design Director for Hirsch Bedner Associates Hong Kong and as a lighting consultant for Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

Artistic Mission
In recent years, Chiyung has focused on the intersection of visual and performing arts through immersive light installations and interdisciplinary performances. Leveraging his scenography background and role as a Yale Art Fellow, he leads cross-disciplinary exhibitions and public art commissions addressing mental health and social dialogue.
Beyond art-making, his practice includes direct community engagement and educational initiatives that promote artistic leadership and STEAM education for international institutions. His core goal is to use light as a medium to bridge creative fields and foster meaningful cultural exchange.

王志勇 (Chiyung Wong) 是一位跨學科藝術家及策展人，其創作涵蓋感官體驗裝置、燈光藝術、創意教育，以及藝術與科學之間的文化交流。 憑藉超過 20 年在世界各地從事創作與專業工作的經驗，王志勇呈現了一系列跨領域協作，形式包括裝置藝術、研究發表、出版、工作坊及研討會。這些計劃為藝術家、科學家、技術專家、研究人員、新聞工作者及學生提供了關鍵的交流平台。

燈光與設計專業資歷

近年來，王志勇專注於透過沉浸式燈光裝置與跨學科表演，探索視覺與表演藝術的交匯點。憑藉其舞台美術背景及耶魯藝術院士的經驗，他領導多項關注精神健康與社會對話的跨界展覽及公共藝術委託。
除了藝術創作，他的實踐亦涵蓋直接的社區參與及教育倡議，為國際機構推動藝術領導力與 STEAM 教育。其核心目標是以燈光為媒介架起創意領域的橋樑，並促進深層的文化交流。
Wong’s recent major works push the boundaries of art and technology, including The Tides of Time — a scenography installation that uses high‑end projection to evoke the flow of time; Solis Occasus — an immersive installation informed by scientific research on mindfulness; and The Tower of Light — a large‑scale light installation that pioneers an innovative approach to achieving zero light pollution.
His site‑specific light installation The Partitions In‑between Blue, White & Red was also selected as the first work by a Hong Kong artist to be presented at Le French May Festival 2012. It was the first artwork to creatively engage the Central Escalator as a site of artistic intervention, exploring cultural values and spatial possibilities within Hong Kong’s urban landscape.
Notably, in 2016 he submitted a proposal to the French Consulate in Hong Kong advocating for the city’s first light festival featuring both local and international artists. This initiative led to the creation of Hong Kong’s inaugural light festival, Lumiere Hong Kong, in 2017.
王氏近年的重點作品皆致力於突破藝術與技術的界限，包括《時間的潮汐》——以高端投影技術呈現時間流動的舞台美學裝置；《幻夕記》——結合科學研究、探討靜觀的沉浸式體驗；以及《光之塔》——以創新方式實現零光污染的大型光藝術裝置。
其場域特定光藝術作品《藍、白、紅之間的分界》亦被選為首位由香港藝術家於2012年「法國五月藝術節」展出的作品，同時亦是首件以中環自動扶手電梯為創作場域的藝術裝置，探索香港城市空間中的文化價值與可能性。
值得一提的是，他於 2016 年主動向法國駐香港領事館提交建議書，倡議在香港舉辦首個匯聚本地與國際藝術家的光影藝術節，最終促成 2017 年香港首屆的光影藝術節——《光·影·香港夜》的誕生。
