As you look at the sunset, what goes on in your mind? The scene is breath-taking, but wouldn't you lament that it will soon turn to dusk? Those moments of peace and quiet often bring along raging thoughts.
Taking "the setting sun" as a metaphorical prompt to "let go", installation artist Wong Chi-yung sees their similarity on changing every moment and such transience makes them difficult to capture. However, for a brief moment they would stay in your heart, let you hold onto them, and inspire you with meaning. Solis Occasus is the latest sensory experiential installation artwork of Wong, following A Heaven in A Wild Flower. Inspired from his exploration of contemplative spaces, this new installation artwork is Wong's responses to his studies on mindfulness with artistic creativity. Merged with scenography and lighting technology, the installation artwork will offer the audience a contemplative space and an experience of visual, aural, and tactile whereby the brain can sink into the heart's flow and let the mind takes over. Taking mindfulness as a link to experiences beyond, Wong invited dancers Kenny Leung and Terry Tsang to create a series of improvisatory dances* that interact with his installation. Using it as their stage, they would offer another perspective to explore the experiential ambience with "movement", "observation" and "introspection", and take the audience into a novel sensory realm of sight, sound and touch.
