Background

The Flowing Flowers is a site-specific light installation nestled within the waters of Tuen Mun Park. Situated in a vibrant residential heart of Hong Kong, Tuen Mun is a district defined by its dual identity: a historic landscape framed by the majestic Castle Peakand Tai Lam, and a bustling "New Town" that evolved from humble fishing and farming roots. This interplay between the permanence of the hills and the constant ebb and flow of urban transformation serves as the canvas for the work.

In this installation, artist Chiyung WONG explores how the poetic quality of light can reshape our dialogue with our surroundings. His research begins with a deep observation of the community and the site’s geography—a northwest coast where seaside vistas meet dense urbanity.

Poetic Dialogue of Light

Through a delicate choreography of light, the artwork projects a series of rhythmic patterns onto the water’s surface, generating intricate and mesmerizing reflections. These "flowing flowers" serve as a metaphor for the city itself—an entity in a constant state of flux, thriving and struggling through transformation, yet maintaining a profound fluidity through time.
