【Art Minds, Art Friends】
A Mental Health Feature on Hong Kong’s Cultural Sector

Let us treat our minds as companions—friends who have walked with us for years. In this project, we call them our “Mind Friends.” For this initiative, Chi‑yung Wong invited writer‑photographer Chan Lap‑yi and mental‑health researcher and drama therapist Lee Sze‑yeung to explore new modes of cross‑disciplinary collaboration. Drawing from personal experience and professional knowledge, they combined interviews, written documentation, research, artistic creation, and project advocacy to develop this exploratory pilot programme.
Our hope is to cultivate a cultural ecosystem grounded in mutual support, and to encourage open, constructive dialogue around mental health.

Over the past six months, we interviewed a wide range of people across Hong Kong’s arts and cultural landscape—including students, educators, artistic directors, arts administrators, cultural workers, and clinical psychologists—to understand their perspectives on mental‑health support and development.

Through this pilot project, we aim to raise awareness and spark conversation among both the public and the sector. The insights gathered have been compiled into the following series of articles, contributing to the ongoing development of mental‑health awareness and cultural growth.
