Curatorial Overview 

A View of Light is a deeply personal inquiry into the nature of illumination, presented by artist and lighting designer Chi-yung Wong. Synthesizing over a decade of international practice across Hong Kong, Finland, and France, Wong presents a body of work that serves as a visual chronicle of his own professional evolution. Through his observation, light is stripped of its utilitarian purpose and revealed as a dualistic force—at once primitive and intangible, unobtrusive yet profoundly invasive. 

Conceptual Framework: The Artist’s Observation 

Wong’s perspective is anchored in a philosophical challenge: if the true mystery of the world lies in the visible, how do we account for the things that remain unseen? 

Drawing a parallel to the intangible nature of love—a phenomenon we cannot observe yet intuitively know to be present—Wong invites the audience to view light as a sentient entity. His work acts as a bridge between the technical precision of lighting design and the raw, subjective experience of human emotion. By translating his cross-cultural observations into a tangible environment, Wong forces a reconsideration of the threshold between the perceived and the hidden. 

The Sensory Discourse 

To manifest this internal dialogue, Wong has curated a multi-sensory landscape in collaboration with Parisian composer Pierre Faa and local sound designer Martin Lai. Together, they orchestrate an environment where light is no longer just a visual stimulus, but a tactile experience. This is an invitation to witness Chi-yung Wong’s "view of light"—a space designed to allow the visitor’s eyes, ears, body, and heart to be filled with the quiet intensity of illumination.
