Les Lumières Imaginaires is a scenography installation that leads viewers into a world where the present is never truly immediate. Light—our most trusted guide—always reaches us after its moment has passed. Sunlight arrives minutes late; the stars above may have vanished long ago, leaving only their final traces drifting across the cosmos.
Chiyung Wong transforms this cosmic delay into a perceptual landscape shaped entirely by light, where time stretches and vision becomes fluid. Drawing from cosmology, speculative physics, and Enlightenment thought, the installation externalizes inner states through shifting gradients, changing angles, and the choreography of shadow. Here, light becomes narrator and mediator, revealing a reality composed of countless echoes.
As visitors move through this luminous terrain, their bodies are woven into the work’s unfolding temporality. Each step reshapes the geometry of light; each glance touches the fragile seam between what is present and what has already passed. The installation invites viewers to dwell within the subtle time‑lag where light, memory, and imagination converge, and to rediscover the delicacy of perception and the pliancy of time.
