Chi-yung WONG is a cross-disciplinary artist and curator. His work includes experiential installations, lighting installations, and creative education, emphasizing the communication between arts and sciences, Chi-yung has been actively promoting artistic and academic exchange.
His works focus on the relationship between light and people and how this relationship can be explored in both visual and theatrical arts. In his pieces, he applies theatrical lighting techniques to dictate rhythm, intensity and color. It is the manipulation of these factors that induces visitors to re-perceive surrounding spaces through the intervention of light. His works cover scenography installation, theatre lighting design, architectural lighting and creative education. He was the lighting consultant for Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Chi-yung's previous commissioners include The French Consulate in Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, The agnès b Gallery and The Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Theatre of Liege, Belgium, West Kowloon Cultural Authority District, Hong Kong Arts Center, ETH Zurich, and the Artists-in-Labs Program at the Institute of Cultural Studies of Zurich University of the Arts, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, etc.
Recently, he was selected as one of the Art Fellows 2020 by Yale University, where he developed arts and mental health projects to promote mental health awareness.
